Hundreds of well-wishers have sent messages of support to Joshua Smith's grieving family after his body was found in a field.
The 27-year-old's disappearance almost four weeks ago sparked a huge search operation, both on foot and through sharing information on social media.Police also sifted through CCTV footage to try to piece together Joshua's route after last being seen alive on October 25 when he left his Stone home for work.Members of the public discovered the body near Meaford Road, Stone, on Saturday.

Yesterday, more than 100 people took part in a tribute walk, which ended at the spot where he was found, not far from the George and Dragon pub. They laid flowers and trinkets there.
Among those taking part in the walk was Rose Oliver, from Alton, who had very personal memories of Joshua.
The 26-year-old said: “He was my first boyfriend when we were about 15 or 16, and I was friends with his sister Hannah.
“He was just lovely. He had a good heart. When I knew him, he was much happier. I couldn't have asked for a better first boyfriend."
When she heard he was missing, Rose contacted his family to offer support.

“As it went on, it became obvious we weren't going to find him alive," she added. “He was so loved, as you could see from the number of people who came to pay tribute. It's heartbreaking.
“It's a shame nothing could be done for him. I know they tried."
Ash Carvelli, aged 47, from Eccleshall, said: “I was out searching for him at Barlaston Downs on Saturday. Then I got home and found out he had been found. I'm just glad he has been found."
Also paying her respects at yesterday's walk was Louise Johnson.
The 38-year-old, from Stone, said: “I felt so connected to Josh since he disappeared. His family are astounding, an absolute light in all this. Everybody has come together in order to bring peace to the family. I just wanted to be here for them. It was a beautiful tribute."

Paying tribute on The Sentinel's Facebook page, Zoe Robinson said: “The family have been through what is a living nightmare these past few weeks and their tenacity and strength throughout this dreadful time, and their effort to bring Josh home, has been something I admire so much.
“I'm just relieved, in finding Josh, they can now get a little bit of closure. Josh, you gained your wings far too soon, but I hope you're finally free now. Your family have done you so proud."

Staffordshire Police confirmed the body was discovered on Saturday morning.
A police spokesman said: “The police were called to the vicinity of the Trent and Mersey canal, near Stone, following the report of a body being found by members of the public engaged in a search for Joshua Smith.
“Police officers attended and the area was subject of examination and a body believed to be Joshua was removed from the scene."
Joshua's family are being offered support from specially trained officers.
An inquest is expected to be opened into his death at a later date.
